Mr. Powell is from Troy, AL. He is a retired educator with
over 30 years of
classroom experience. He spent several years in administration during
teaching career. For the last year 30 years, he has been director of
schools in TN, AL, and GA. He spent 38 years in the Tennessee National
Enlisted Conductor for the 129th Army Band. He currently
resides in Alabama teaching Junior ROTC at a local high school. He currently holds
Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and a Master's Degree in
Mr. Jack Clark
Ms Tess Milby
Mr. Clark is a virtuoso pianist, author, songwriter,
producer, teacher and grandfather.He was the winner of an Angel award for video and a recipient of
honorary Doctorate of Keyboard Wizardry from Calvary Christian Academy.
Clark started his piano training at five years old. He played for his
gospel quartet at twelve and fell deeply in love with the music.Currently, Mr. Clark is currently
Minister of Music at Westwood Baptist Church, Cleveland, TN. He has had
extensive experience in performing, evangelism, recording, writing,
Tess grew up attending ASGM. She has since been a student or otherwise involved in many other singing schools across the South. She strongly believes in the continuance of teaching music to the younger generation and keeping alive the shape note tradition. Now living in Crossville, TN, Tess is on staff as the pianist at Central Baptist Church.
Mr. Derek Meler
Mrs. Eloise Phillips
Derek is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance. He grew up singing in church and has a profound love for Gospel music. He is an active solo performer who has appeared with the Nashville Opera, Symphony, and Chamber Singers as well as the Sewanee Symphony Orchestra. He teaches in the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools and also is on the faculty of the Stamps-Baxter School of Music.
Mrs. Phillips is a native of Roswell, GA. For years, she
taught countless piano students, including recording artist Stan
Phillips is an accomplished songwriter and has directed a number of
arrangements. She continues to be a role model for musicians young and

Ms Tracey Phillips
Mrs. Lisa Powell
Ms Phillips was born in Roswell, GA.She
began studying piano at four years old. By the time she
was fifteen, she began teaching piano, theory, and was an accompanist
singings at several gospel music singing schools throughout the
Phillips has been a featured pianist for the Gaither Homecoming Series
National Quartet Convention. She has produced, arranged, and performed
several recordings. Ms Phillips was nominated for a Dove Award in 2003.
Phillips holds a Bachelor's of Music Theory and Composition from the
Tennessee State University. Ms Phillips holds memberships in the Gospel
Association and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
Mrs. Powell holds a Master's Degree in Music Education
University of North Alabama. She started teaching music schools in the
of 2009.Mrs. Powell enjoys
spending time with her family and teaching children about music.
Mr. Eric Tippins
Mrs. Becky Walker
Eric Tippens is a life long Georgia native and is certainly no stranger to gospel music. He received his Master's Degree in church music from Lee University with emphasis in choral conducting. He has taught private piano lessons over 17 years drawing from extensive personal study with Eloise & Tracey Phillips. Eric is the co owner of a recording studio and serves as a session player, arranger and producer to many local artist. Eric serves as Music Pastor at Mt. Zion Baptist located in Jasper, GA.
Mrs. Walker was born in Tupelo, MS. She holds a Bachelor's of Music Education from Mississippi State University. Mrs. Walker taught choral music at Cherokee High School in Canton, GA for 13 years. She currently teaches at Douglas High School in Douglas, AL. Mrs. Walker enjoys accompanying people and singing. She has been married to Larry C. Walker for 34 years and has one son. Mrs. Walker's main rule in her classroom is "Success Comes in CAN's ....NOTCAN'Ts!!!"
